Romeo and Juliet broke my heart
August 9, 2010“Romeo” and “Juliet” two names that seems to be inseprable. Shakespeare is genuis(is he not?) because only a genius can make a reel fictional character real. Many do believe that Romeo and Juliet were real, that once upon a time in Verona there was a girl named Juliet who fell in love with a boy named Romeo and.. yeah.. they both die in the end. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is indeed a good story, may be one of the best literary masterpiece ever written. But what I don’t understand is.. why is their story an epitome of a great love story? Seriously? They were too young. Juliet was if I’m not mistaken 13 and eventhough Romeo’s age wasn’t mentioned it’s quite assumable that it is close to Juliet’s age. Okay, let’s not go with the whole age doesn’t matter thing. My point here is.. they’re still at puberty. How will we know if it’s really true love or it’s just the hormones. Hormones can make you act based on pure urge and impulses. And another thing, in the end they both die which is heartbreaking! Maybe it’s just me but would you not prefer a happy ending than a tragic one? But if you’ll look in another way.. Romeo and Juliet probably will not be as memorable as it is now if they had a happy ending.
