Book Review: Vince’s Life The Wedding
February 28, 2010I always say that I will make a review of my recently purchased books but i guess I never did, huh? And so, here it is.. my first book review(well, sort of like that).

Title: Vince’s Life The Wedding (Third book)
Author: Vince O. Teves
Publisher: Summit Books
Plot: The first book was about Vince and his first love, Andrea. The second was about moving on after losing Andrea and finding a new love in the person of Cat. And now, Cat broke up with him and he’s devastated once again. On the other hand, Connie is pregnant and is getting married to his Fil-Am boyfriend, Walter, in Las Vegas. Vince was hesitant to go at first because he was heartbroken and broke(he quit his job) but he did agreed to go in the long run. They leave Philippines and went straight to San Francisco where Andrea was. The plan(Spider’s plan) was to go to Andrea first and then go on to a road trip to L.A. On their stay there, Vince’s feelings for Andrea were awaken but his love for Cat was still in the background. Everything seems to go well until Connie informed them that Cat will be arriving soon because she also invited her to the wedding. Vince was left with no other option but choose between Andrea and Cat. >>FAST FORWARD>> Vince proposed to her and she accepted it. I won’t be telling you who he choose and why he chose her. See for yourself.. buy the book.
My Favorite line/Conversations:
” I like to think that this could turn into love one day, but right now it’s not, and here we are again: I have to give you up again.” - -
–
Connie(to Vince and Spider): I’m pregnant
Spider: Which one of us is the father?
–
Spider(to Vince): I’m sure you’ve thought about it. You’re single. She’s single. You two can do what single people do when they’re horny.”
Vince: I honestly have not thought about it. ..At least not much.
The not-so-good points of the book/story:
- Almost all the chapter titles are movie titles. As much as I want to focus on the story.. the movie seems to play at the back of my head. It’s weird. Just like in the Ghosts of Gilfriends Past.. while reading that chapter all I think of was Matthew McConaughey’s accent.
- The driving part in America confuse me a bit. Aside from Andrea, who lives there.. It was never mention that Connie and Spider have international driving license.
Final thoughts: The book was nice.. as usual. Reading it gives you that feeling you get when you’re riding a rollercoaster. It makes your heart beat faster and on some point it can make your heart stop. If you liked Vince Teves previous books.. you’ll definitely like this one too. It’s real a page-turner.. I even skip breakfast just to finish it.(lesson learned: Don’t read books before breakfast). One last thing, I personally didn’t like Vince’s choice. I would be much happier if she chose *tooot*. But who knows, there might be book four and there he can be with *tooot*. ^_^
my first love..
August 17, 2009sometimes when we’re bombarded with so many things.. we tend to forget those simple things that makes us happy. in my case, because of all those stressful school works and the alluring internet.. i forget how much i adore reading.. how much i enjoy it.. and how much relaxation it gives me. i’m not sure if my liking for books/reading is triggered by the fact that my father used to work for a publishing company or maybe it’s genetic because both my parents loves to read. but what i’m sure of, reading has been my passion ever since. growing up.. my parents always brought me books(story books, encylopedias, activity books, etc.) as pasalubong. i really want to share those books(that i really like) to all of you but right now.. i can’t. my makeshift library is currently disorganized and i doubt that i can compile all those books within an hour. =p
anyway, i went to national bookstore after my class a while ago. i intent to buy time traveler’s wife but according to ate cashier/customer service there are no deliveries daw even though they are requesting it. so, i bought another book nalang. My Imaginary Ex by Mina V. Esguerra, it’s a locally published book by summit books. I love summit books’ books. All their books actually fall under one category.. chic lit. i think i have almost all their books except those 3 books that has titles that starts with “every girls guide to…” but i’m also planning to buy those.. when i have the money na.

<- i’m gonna start reading na, after i publish this post.
<- my summit books’ collection, some of the books aren’t here coz they were borrowed by my peers.
<- i support locally published books. <3 bob ong’s books!
<- these are only some foreign books that are part of my collection.(i still have plenty on the shelves)
<- i don’t limit myself strictly to chic lit books.. i read all sorts of book genres.
P.S. memoirs of a geisha, heart of darkness and the giver were given to me as presents.. the rest of the books you see are bought using my own money/savings. =)
